New Build uploaded for MVM25


Hi Guys

Spent the last couple of days improving the project for general release, I hope this does well but I have not had as much time as i would have liked to really update the game but life gets in the way. However I will list off what is new in 0.25 and lets see how it goes

New Featues:

Multi Directional shooting 
This is the basic implimentation of multi directional shooting, the player can now shoot diagonal up and down this includes while falling and jumping

Added our first Trap
The sewer Flume power generator now has a shocking hazard which if you slip can kill you, this can be stopped by finding the main switch

Added a new Guard Enemy
There is a new enemy that guards important areas and also some of them are carriers or Keycards that allow you to access different interactibles in the game

Added The Grey Rat Enemy
Formally a very empty part of the map is now teaming with annoying grey rats, this is where your down shoot is very handy.

New Level Audio Track
I have finally implemented the main track for the sewer area, I have another plan for the original tune

Added Jump control
Players can now jump higher by holding down the button

Possible Problems:
Though i try my best to mitigate any problems there is likely many, Here are some of the ones that i know for sure

  • (W) there is issues with the control methods beyond being difficult for some people, I have noticed when playing the web demo sometimes we cant shoot in multi directions, often the ladder fails to allow the player to climb down. 
  • (W, S) Save Files only save position data, so if i have changed a map this may cause problems
  • (W, S) Occasionally the player might get stuck in an animation i am doing my best to work out a fix for this
  • (W) Controls cause the browser to mess up as they match shortcuts that are embedded into the software
  • (W, S) Boss fight is problematic sometimes as he doesnt wake up when you activate him

Missed Features:
This is where I have to level with you. I have not done as much work this 3 months as i am getting less and less time to work heavily on this project this is in part to burnout but mostly down to life changes as i have just become a father to my second child and he is really taking much of my time as well as my RL Job increasing my workload. 

I have not given up yet and i still have many features planned but i am slowing down and working on other projects to avoid a complete burnout as well as raising my boy. Before i go on to planned features i will state what i missed for this Jam

  • Still no key customisation
  • Missed some animations
  • No story mode yet
  • Still largely unfunctioning UI 
  • Didnt come around to working on the upper sections of the sewer area
  • No boss for the dash ability in this build, so you still have this for the time being 

Upcoming Features:
Due to my time constraints over the next 3 months I will do my best to work on many of the features i missed this time, with some luck for the one year aniversary I will have something great here is the planned features lets see what i can get done

  • Upper section of the sewer facility
  • New Boss for dash ability
  • More Traps
  • Rat Boomer improvements
  • Key Bind Editor
  • Difficulty Modes
  • More Drops
  • More Enemies (some really tough ones on the way)
  • Functioning UI
  • Story Additions
  • More animations

So here we go guys, please be nice to my game I will take on board all feedback positive or negative as i will be surely testing out some of your games

I highly recomend the v0.25 Stand Alone download as this is the least buggy, but you can still use the online demo just be sure to try out both
